Youth Challenge - Desafío de Jóvenes

El sábado anterior fue una tarde muy agradable en nuestro Club, ya que estamos dando inicio a nuestro próximo proyecto Desafío de Jóvenes (YOUTH CHALLENGE).

Last Saturday was an enjoyable time in our Club, and now we are beginning a new project Youth Challenge.

¿Cuál es “Youth Challenge”? Es un program para desarollar los jóvenes. El programa empezó en el año de 1956, conocido como el Premio del Duque de Edimburgo, hoy en día este programa se lleva a cabo en 126 países, como el Reino Unido y Singapur. Ya más de 6 millones de jóvenes en todo el mundo han lo han realizado. Cuál es la finalidad de “Youth Challenge” es en que cada joven se rete a si mismo, que ellos mismo creen sus propios programas y sus objetivos a alcanzar, ellos verán sus propios progresos como equipo y también de manera individual.

What is Youth Challenge? It’s a youth development program. It was started in 1956, then known as the Duke of Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, the programme has now spread to 126 countries, like the United Kingdom and Singapore. Over 6 million young people worldwide have taken up the Award challenge. The goal of Youth Challenge is that each youth challenges himself, that the youths themselves design their own program and objectives, and that they themselves would evaluate their own progress as a group and as an individual.

Los jóvenes aprenderán a cómo elegir y planificar su proyecto, también cómo cumplir con el proyecto desde el inicio hasta el fin. Como también la manera en que van a trabajar con jóvenes de personalidades muy diferentes a la de ellos y cómo van a vencer las dificultades que se les presente en el camino, como equipo y como también consigo mismo.

The youths will learn how to choose and plan their project, as well as follow the project through from the beginning to the end. They will also work with others whose personalities may be very different and how to overcome the difficulties that appear along the way, as a group and individually as well.

Antes que presentamos el nuevo programa, comenzamos con un pequeño juego en el cual cada uno de los jóvenes debían coger papel de baño “solo lo necesario”…el fin de este juego pequeño consistió en que cada uno tuviera una cantidad grande de papel y mientras más era la cantidad ellos(as) deberían contarnos los hechos más importantes de sus vidas. También jugamos un juego se llama “Blanket game” ósea “Juego de Manta”. Tuvimos mucha diversión con eso.

Before we presented the new program, we began with a small game in which each youth had to take as much toilet paper as he or she “needed”… at the end of passing out the toilet paper each youth had to tell as many facts about him or herself according to how many pieces he or she had taken. We also played the Blanket Game and had a lot of fun with that.





Pasado este juego de introducción para ir conociéndose unos a otros. Dimos pase a nuestro Gerente de Proyectos, Keng Suan, para explicar un poco sobre Youth Challenge y que se trata este programa. También tuvimos un “TALK SHOW”, cómo un programa de televisión, en el que nuestros jóvenes del ciclo pasado, nos contarían un poco de su experiencia en el proyecto de “YOUTH CHALLENGE”. Estuvimos con una de nuestras jóvenes (Laura), en la que realizó una serie de preguntas para cada uno de los jóvenes participantes, que llevaron a cabo su proyecto el ciclo pasado.

After the introductory games we knew each other better. Our Project Manager, Keng Suan, explained to us a little about Youth Challenge and what it was about. We also had a Talk Show, like a TV program, in which our youths who were with us last cycle told us about their experience in the Youth Challenge project. Laura, one of our youths, asked a series of questions to the participants that were involved in the project last cycle.





Ellos nos contaron alguna de sus anécdotas, cómo se sintieron, cómo es que escogieron su proyecto, qué dificultades se les presentaron, algún recuerdo que se llevan y por último, qué aprendieron de su proyecto.

They told us a few of their anecdotes, how they felt, how they chose their Project, what difficulties they had, some memories of what happened and finally, what they learnt of the Project.
