Christmas in Huaycan

¡Todo estaba planeado para regalar miles de sonrisitas en el día de Navidad en el pronoei “Gotitas del Saber” en Huaycan!

We were planning to give the kids in the Huaycan pronoei (school) “Gotitas del Saber” a good time on Christmas!

Nuestros Jóvenes y maestros llegaron con un gran espíritu navideño, los niños quienes al vernos llegar se alegraron y con sonrisas nos dieron la bienvenida…Era el comienzo de una mañana de mucha diversión, en el que tuvimos un tiempo para compartir, un tiempo para cantar y claro infaltable tiempo para jugar ¡yehhh!

Our youths and volunteer teachers arrived with the Christmas spirit, and the children whom we were going to celebrate with welcomed us with big smiles. It was a great start to a fun morning in which we had a time of sharing, a time of singing and of course a time of playing, yeah!

Primero tuvimos nuestro compartir, el rico Panteoncito y la riquísima chocolatada.

First we had our time of sharing food, the delicious paneton and chocolate drink.


Llego el tiempo de las canciones…con el súper Hit de la semana y la canción es: “El Burrito Sabanero” (una canción muy escuchada en días de Navidad).Con mi burrito sabanero voy camino a Belén si me ven, si me ven, voy camino a Belén…!

Then we had a time of singing with the Hit of the Week “The Burrito Sabenero” (The Savannah Donkey – a song Heard often during Christmas). “With my Savannah donkey, I walk to Bethlehem, Yes look at me, look at me, I’m walking to Bethlehem”

Tuvimos el juego de la Silla musical, que mientras la canción sonaba ellos dan una vuelta por las sillas al parar la música. Inmediatamente todos tienen que coger su silla y quien no pudo sentarse pierde el juego…

We played Musical Chairs with the children, where they had to walk around the chairs until the music stopped, then grab a chair to sit. Those who did not have a seat lost…

Y nuestro último juego fue el “Sálvese quien pueda” el juego consiste en amarrar un globo en una de los pies una vez amarrado el globo tiene que ir a reventar el globo de su compañero, el que cuida su globo es el ganador…¡¡¡así que chicos corran porque es todos contra todos…!!!

And the last game was “Save yourself if you can” where the children had to step on baloons tied to other children’s ankles. Whoever cared for their balloon would win. The children ran after each other happily.

Después de tanto juego era hora de refrescarse! Con la chicha morada, mmmm

After all the games it was time for another refreshment! With chicha morada ( a local drink made from corn). Mmm…


¡¡Quiero más, quiero más!!

I want more, I want more!



Era tiempo de los regalitos, así que todos esperen sentaditos…¡¡¡Arriba los regalitos!!!

Then it was time for the gifts, and the children waited patiently for it… yay we have gifts!

Then we got ready for the photos!!!


Y es así fue como la pasamos súper en Huaycan…¡¡¡Una foto del recuerdo con nuestros jóvenes, profesores y la organización ACAPAN!!! Fue una experiencia muy divertida en el que cada uno aprendimos a compartir con los que más nos necesitan ,que navidad es para todos los que tienen y para los que tampoco tienen. Porque el espíritu esta en cada uno de nosotros.

So we had a good time in Huaycan, and we took a photo with our youths, teachers and the organisation which we cooperate with, ACAPAN!! It was a fun experience and in which we learnt to share with those who were more needy than us. It was a Christmas to share with those who had more and those who had less, because it was the spirit that was in each one of us.
